Your Story

This weekend my family and I had the opportunity to finally go back to Canada and see family after three plus years of not being able to. It was great to see brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Meeting some for the first time. Like always for me, I love watching the little people interact and play. I love talking to them, probably because we are on the same wavelength. They are so open and untarnished by life. As I talked with and watched the kids, I was thinking about their story. They ranged from 9 months to age 7 and their stories have already begun. They have a whole life in front of them to live out a story involving other people, events they know nothing about. Some events will be fun and exciting, some will be hard and painful. Their life could be long and fruitful or short and difficult — so many unknowns. There are parents and extended family members pouring into each of these little ones, shaping and molding their lives, but each child will end up living out their own life.
You are living out a story right now; you are somewhere in the middle of it. My question to you is, when you get to the end of your story what will it say about you? Will your story say that you were caring, helpful, thoughtful, a person sold out to Christ? Or will it say you were selfish, hard to get along with, and difficult, sold out to self?
Here is an interesting fact about your story: you get to decide most of the outcomes. You get to make decisions today that will impact tomorrow. You are not stuck, you are not forced to do any one thing. You get to decide everyday who you will be that day. So, what decisions can you make today to make the impact on what you want tomorrow? Just know this requires work and effort and thought. But you get to write your story. What kind of a story are you writing?
It is my hope that you have decided to allow God to write your story for you. That you are willing to live out your story for His glory and His kingdom.
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.”
