Who’s Writing Your Story?

“And don’t be concerned about what to eat and what to drink. Don’t worry about such things. These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.”
Luke 12:29-31 NLT

We are living in a period of time where there is a great deal of uncertainty. Things that we need to live are costing more. People and goods that we once thought we could count on and rely on are no longer constant or present. In many ways our lives have been rocked over the past few years.
I want to take a minute of your time today and ask you a few questions that will cause you to reflect on your life story and where your life is heading. Here are a few questions to think about. What are the events or people in your life right now that have the biggest pull on you? Is that pull positive or negative? Why have you allowed that influence to have so much control? These are all questions, that when answered, have a large impact on our stories.
If you are a Christ follower then really your story is His story. It is not about you and your decisions at all, it is about how Christ involved you in His story. The events and people in your life should not be controlling your story; Christ’s story being lived out in you should be influencing their story. But in all reality it doesn’t often happen that way. For all of us there are external forces that are impacting our stories. So how do I change that?
Let me make a few suggestions: first, start your day with Christ. I know this sounds like a Sunday school answer, but it is true. Start each day asking for God’s direction and figuring out how you join him in what he is doing that day, and your story will change. Second, take some time to learn the heart of God, then align your heart with his; not only will your story change but so will the story of those closest to you. You see, it is the influence of Christ in me that has the biggest positive influence on my story.
“For it is God who is working in you both to will and to work according to His good purpose” Philippians 2:13.
So, what or who has had the biggest impact on your story?
