Who is Your Boss?
“Yours, Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in the heavens and on earth belongs to you.” 2 Chronicles 29:11
Who do you really work for? Now, we can look at this from a number of different ways, like where do I go each day to earn a paycheck? Or to whom have I given the right to tell me what to do each day? The answer to those questions could determine who is your boss. As Christ followers we may work for someone and receive a paycheck from a company every few weeks, but they are not our boss. God is! I remember as a young guy working for my father on the farm, he would often quote this verse to me: “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.” Ultimately God is the one whom I am to please. Here is the wonderful part about that being my goal. There is no way that my job won’t be done to its best or that I will have a bad attitude or that I will leave something incomplete if I am doing it to the glory of God. All of a sudden I am holding myself to a different standard. That standard will cause people to notice that there is something different about me and my motivation for doing well.
So, once again, Who have you been working for? Maybe it is time you changed bosses?
