Who Is Influencing You?
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” Jim Rohn
Who have you been giving the right to influence you to? We all do it; we hang out with different people, and the longer we hang out with them the more we grant them the right to speak into and effect our lives. This quote that I found a few weeks ago has really grabbed my attention. I have been thinking about it from the positive view. I want to allow a few people who are godly, always learning, and have a great outlook on life to be influencing me. In order for that to happen I need to figure out ways to interact with them on a regular basis. This takes forethought and action. It means that I need to go out of my way to be around them, to look for opportunities and act on them. I need to be praying, asking God to lead me to folks who love Him with their whole heart.
How about you? Who are the people who are influencing you? Have you identified a godly person, a learner who can up your average? Ask them out for coffee. Invite them in for an evening in your home. Ask them if you can hang out with them for the afternoon. Then be sure you listen more than you talk.
