Where Is Your Treasure?

Matthew 6:19-21
19“Don’t store up for yourselves treasures on earth… 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven… 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart is also.”

What do you treasure ? What is it that has captivated your heart and mind ? What will you give almost anything, your time, energy, money, effort, intellect and well-being to get ? That is your treasure. There is no one thing that we all treasure. Treasures are different for everyone and can be different at different times of our lives. Here is the thing about all of the things that we treasure: each and every one of them will eventually leave us empty and looking for something else to fill us. The verse you just read tells us that “where our treasure is where our heart is,” and really as Christ followers our hearts belong to Christ. Maybe over the past little while you have noticed your heart drifting, maybe when your faith was new and fresh Christ was all you treasured but now something else has grabbed your heart. May I encourage you today; spend a little time and see what you have been chasing, what really has your heart. There is great fulfillment, joy and rest when Christ is all I treasure.
