Where Is Your Focus?

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.  For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:1-4

I’d like to continue our dialog about Global Outreach. The foundation of this is a proper relationship with Christ. When Jesus came to earth He introduced a whole new way of thinking and looking at life. Our default position as humans is to care about ourselves and what is important to us. Jesus said repeatedly, “You have heard it said… but I tell you…” He called us to a new set of priorities.
The Apostle Paul tells us in Colossians to seek the things that are above. And he says set your minds on things that are above. That goes against our natural way of thinking, doesn’t it? In verse 4 he speaks of Christ, “who is your life.” Is that true of you? Do you live and breathe for Christ?
When this is our focus we feel compelled to speak about Christ and make Him known. There are so many people around us who do not know Him and what He has to offer. God has called each one of us to set our minds on things above. What is above is our glorious God and His son Jesus Christ. There are many here in the Oxford Hills area who do not live their lives for Christ, or seemingly, give Him any thought at all. And there are over 3 BILLION people around the world who do not know who Christ is.
As we live our lives, let’s not lose our focus. Jesus Christ is everything! One day in the future, when we pass to heaven, we will have lots of “time” to relax and do the things we enjoy. I truly believe that whatever we love to do here on earth we will be able to do in heaven, and to a greater extent than we can imagine!
So let’s not keep the glorious news of salvation to ourselves. Let’s take with us to heaven as many people as we can! Stay focused on Christ.
