What Are You Feeding On?

If you are a Christ follower you have two basic thought patterns that lead you through life. The first is the one we are all born with, and that is the thoughts of self. When we feed this thought process we become proud and focus our time and energy on what makes us happy and helps us fulfill our goals. We tend to become easily annoyed with others because they are not as much about us as we are.The second is what we are reborn with when we become a disciple of Christ, and that is the thoughts of the Spirit. Second Corinthians 5:17 says it this way “..if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!” The old that is being referred to here are the thoughts of me. The new is the revived me led by the indwelling Holy Spirit. The new me becomes concerned about God and others. I have these two thought processes alive and warring in me and both affect my attitude. But the truth is the one that I feed the most has the greatest effect on my attitude. So if I feed self, my desire for self becomes greater and I become more selfish. But if I feed on the Spirit, my desire for God becomes greater and I become more like God.

The question then that we need to ask ourselves regularly is: what are we feeding on, self or Spirit? How about you?
