Wait Quietly
“The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.”
Lamentations 3:25-26
I enjoy hunting, I enjoy being in the woods and wandering around looking at all of the interesting parts of nature. You never know what you will find or what animal you will get to observe. But if you are really going to hunt and be successful then you have to shift from nature walks in the woods to finding the right habitat for the animal you are hunting. Then with slow, patient observation and lots of quiet waiting, you may get the opportunity to capture the animal. It is rare that you just happen upon an animal; you have to plan, stalk, and wait for the animal. This is really the picture that is portrayed to us in this verse. It is rare that we just randomly bump into God. It takes intentional thought and us actively searching for him. Just like hunting, we search for God where he lives, in his Word. When we read daily and wait quietly God will reveal Himself to us. I love the two thoughts that bookend these verses. “The Lord is good.” And “Salvation comes from the Lord.” Two great thoughts to rest in as we wait on him. God is always good to us and he has provided salvation through his Son.
I hope you have come to the place that you are waiting quietly on the Lord. If not, it is time to start.
