Understood

“This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.” Hebrews 4:15 NLT

Have you ever felt misunderstood? Have you ever had the conversation with yourself, “If they only lived my life in my shoes they would understand why I have done the things I have done”? Often we feel this when we are facing interpersonal difficulties or we find ourselves being tempted with something that is our biggest weakness and it has spiraled out of control. Sometimes these situations seem to overwhelm us and maybe even consume us. They can ultimately lead us to a place of self-pity; we start saying things like, “No one knows what I am facing,” or “No one has been where I am now.” The verse we just read tells us a different story. We have a High Priest (Jesus) who has experienced all the feelings we have had, and he was able to walk through those without sin. The next verse tells us to “…Come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.” The fix for our internal struggle is to go to the one who understands and has walked through the same struggle with victory and allow Him to give us the grace and mercy we need to overcome our difficulties.
You and I can go to Him anytime with anything; he invites us to come “with boldness.” What are you waiting for? Go to him now!
