Think Sensibly

“I tell everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one.”
Romans 12:3b

I like this verse. I like the warning at the beginning and the encouragement at the end. Did you see them as you read it? WARNING – don’t think that if everyone were like you the world would be an amazing place to live; don’t assume that all the problems you face today are because of someone else. YOU very well could be the problem!! You know the attitude, the “If people would just ask me, I could tell them how to live successfully” attitude. Meanwhile, your own relationships and life are pretty messed up. Don’t get caught thinking about yourself on a level above everyone else. Be honest about who you are.
Now the encouragement. I am to think of myself in faith, believing that I am who He has made me to be. If you are a Christ follower, this is who you are: a child of the King of Kings, a joint heir of Christ, a friend of God, an ambassador for God, a high priest, and a member of the family of God. Friend, you may not have it all figured out and all together but you belong and are accepted; you have a home.
Thank you, Father, for your Son who makes me right with you!!
