The Journey

Today I am working on a message that I will be preaching in a few weeks. (I will have already preached it when you read this.) It is from the book of Numbers and the title is “The Journey.” I chose this title because as I read the book of Numbers I was reminded of the nation of Israel’s journey with God. Their travel was not in a straight line; it had lots of twists, turns, ups, and downs. They would be in a good relationship with God, then living in sin and running away from Him. I found two truths in the trip they were on. One, God never changed or moved. He always stayed the same. Two, God always made a way for them to come back to Him.
The same is true of us; we are also on a “journey.” It is not in a straight line to God. We listen to Him and obey and grow closer, and then we decide we know better and go our own way and do our own thing, leading us away from God. Two of the truths I found in Numbers for the nation of Israel are the same for us today. One, God never changes; “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Who He said He is, He will be. What He promised, He will do. Two, God has made a way back to Himself, Jesus Christ. Jesus is always waiting with open arms for us to return to Him no matter how far we have strayed.
Live in these two truths today.
