The God of All Comfort

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

In opening his second letter to the church at Corinth, Paul gives a wonderful promise to the people there (and to us)- our generous God will provide all of the comfort we need, when we need it, out of His endless mercy! We all face difficulty, pain and loss. We face hurt and grief that we can’t even imagine a way out of. Yet, we are not alone. Our faithful God is with us, caring for and strengthening us as only He can, walking with us every step, every day.

However, Paul does not stop there. He reveals that there is a purpose to our suffering. We suffer and are comforted so that we might in turn comfort others who suffer. Friends- God wants to use the difficult circumstances of your life to make you an ambassador of hope and comfort to a hurting world. Who can you reach out to today with a heart full of love because of God’s generosity to you?
