Supply

Last week we talked about this truth, “I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.” This morning I want us to think about how we can know that statement is true. Let me share one more verse from the fourth chapter of Philippians with you. “And my God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:19 CSB. Paul is telling the believers in Philippi that they can trust God to provide everything they need, first of all, because when God tells us something he always follows through, he never lies. Second, Paul is speaking to us about his personal experience. Paul is reminding us of the fact that he has trusted God to supply his needs for all of his years of ministry, and God has never once let him down. I can agree whole heartedly with Paul. In 30 years of ministry and 45 years of being a Christ-follower I can say that God has always supplied all my needs, and really, he has supplied far beyond what I have needed. There is a phrase in Philippians 4:19 that grabs my attention; it’s, “according to his riches.” I love those few words. I like that he doesn’t say, “according to his limited resources” or, “If I can find some resources I’ll help a little.” No, he is willing and able to help us out of his vast riches, and he is going to use his son Jesus to meet that need. Remember how much Jesus loves us and how far he was willing to go to demonstrate that love. He is the one in charge of meeting our needs. WOW. That is incredibly comforting.
So, let me finish by asking you a question: are you living like you believe that God can and will supply everything you need?
