Self-Discipline

Sorry!!!! I am not trying to ruin your day. I know, Why? Of all the topics, WHY THIS ONE?

Self-discipline is the “make it or break it” in leadership. See, anyone can lack self-discipline; just look around. Think of all the times that you knew you should make a change, do something different, change the way you were living, but you lacked the self-discipline to make it happen. Only those who are intentionally working on becoming a better leader will practice self-discipline. Self-leadership is the ability to discipline myself to practice the skills necessary to make me a better person: better at my job, a better parent, better at leading others. Often we think we have to master all the skills at once; this is overwhelming. Self-discipline helps us pick off one skill at a time, stick at it, allow it to become a natural part of us, and then move on to the next. So this means that self-discipline is not a one-and-done; it is a life-long pursuit. It is not enough to try to practice self-discipline, it is coming to the place that I love self-discipline. I love it because of what I know it produces in me; I love it because I know it will help me become the best version of me that I can be. It is finding out who I need to become, setting a path and staying the course.

Proverbs 4:25-27 CSB
“ Let your eyes look forward; fix your gaze straight ahead. Carefully consider the path for your feet, and all your ways will be established. Don’t turn to the right or the left;…..”

Would you say that you are a person who is self-disciplined?  Now what?
