Self-Absorbed

It has become the nature of the times we live in to be self-absorbed. Folks today seem to think through the events of life in terms of how they personally will be effected.  “Will I like it?” “Will it benefit me?” “Does it help me get what I want?” It is so easy to get caught in this trap as a Christ-follower. Even when we think we are putting Christ first we can be looking at ministry (and life) from the perspective of how it effects us, not what Christ desires.

So what does it take to keep from becoming self-absorbed as a Christ-follower?

1. A Daily Relationship with Christ. This is not study time. This is your conversation with Him.

2. Friends who are free to speak truth into your life. Who have you given permission to, to be totally honest with you no matter how much it may hurt?

3. Using my gifts to stay on mission. Let’s be honest; the easiest way not to become self-absorbed is to be engaged in someone else’s life.
