“Rooted”

“The person who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence indeed is the Lord, is blessed.”
Jeremiah 17:7 CSB

Over the past few weeks I have started working on my memory verse for the “Rooted” campaign; I hope you are working on it as well. I thought I would take a moment to think with you about the first verse. “ The person who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence indeed is in the Lord, is blessed”. I don’t know about you, but for me, I want the blessing of God on and in my life. Jeremiah makes it very clear how we experience the blessing of God; it is by putting our complete trust in Him. That means that I place all of my hope and faith in Him and in what He has said He would do for me. I no longer try to work or perform my way into pleasing God. I come to the place where I realize that there is nothing I can do to earn God’s forgiveness, He has already offered it to me through the sacrifice of His Son on the cross. By placing my trust in Him I am “blessed.” What are those blessings? Let me name a just few of them for you: His peace, His presence, His grace, His love, His mercy, His Spirit and power, indescribable joy. We become His children, joint heirs with Christ, and are given an eternal home with Him.
So my question for us today is, have we placed our trust and confidence in the Lord today? Or are we trying to secure those blessings on our own?
