Rooted

“He will be like a tree planted by water: it sends its roots out toward a stream, it doesn’t fear when heat comes, and its foliage remains green.”

The next section of this verse gives us the result of our roots having access to a steady supply of water: fear is removed. WOW, that is a big one in the day we are living in. Have these past few months left you fearful and stunted your growth in Christ? They shouldn’t have. This verse is reminding us that the heat of life is coming; notice it doesn’t say “if” but “when.” As the Holy Spirit directed these words to be written, He knew that we all would face the heat of life and it would either cause us to wither and die or cause us to grow stronger. When our roots are established in Christ the heat of life only causes us to grow and flourish while others are shriveling up. Notice,“its foliage remains green,” indicating that the tree never lost its source of life. The same is true for all those who are Christ-followers; our source of life, Christ, never stops providing us with living water. Because we have an eternal source of life we have nothing to fear, and hard times only draw us deeper into our source of life.
How well are your roots attached to the life source, Christ?
