Renew

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 CSB

Sometimes as Christ-followers, we forget who we really are, that we have been reborn, recreated, made new by the Spirit of God. We often get caught up in who we were. The events and experiences that shaped us seem to hold control over us and we allow them to continue to define us. When in reality we don’t need to.
What does it mean to be a new creation? Well, the Word of God tells us that we have a new master, we are no longer in control of our destination or how we get to our destination. Jesus is leading us there. We also have a new mission; we are no longer looking out for our own interests. We are helping introduce people to the one who can redeem them, Jesus. We have limitless resources. The resources and power of the God who created all things are at our disposal. Being renewed means that we give up our desires and allow the Spirit of God to do the work of God in us and through us.
Are you allowing the one who renewed you to control you? Or have you forgotten the new creation that God has made you?
