Remind

“This just a reminder, do not touch the chain on your chainsaw while it is moving.” Or “do not place your fingers or toes under the lawnmower while the blade is engaged.” Or “do not place your hand on the burner of the stove while the burner is on.” Or “ please don’t text, put on makeup, or read a book while driving.”
These seem like silly things to remind people of, yet every year people have accidents that cut, burn, cause a car crash, or in some way dismember themselves, all because they forgot or became distracted.
God knows that as his followers we can often forget even the simplest of truths. I was thinking about Joshua as he took over leading the nation of Israel. God saw fit to remind him a number of times, “Be strong and courageous, I am with you.” Why? Because God knows how quickly we get wrapped up in ourselves and we forget the promises of God that give us the ability to succeed.
Take some time today and write out a few of God’s promises, then as you go through your week remind yourself that God has got you.
Joshua 1:5 “… I (God) will not leave you or abandon you.” CSB
