Remember

I like songs that tell a story. So I am always on the lookout for them. A few days ago I was checking out one of my favorite groups, Home Free, to see if they had any new story songs out, and I found a song called “Remember This.” There was a line in the song that caught my attention, “How do you want to remember this?” That line started me thinking about all the little decisions I make every day and the outcomes that I am hoping for. How I decide to live out each moment determines how I get to remember the moments. Phrases like “What if,” “I could have,” “I should have,” and “I wish I had” are all reminders of missed opportunities. Each of us has choices that we get to make each day, and every choice leads to an outcome, so what if you made those choices based on how you would like to remember the event instead of what feels good or seems easiest? What if you stopped for a moment and asked, “How can I add value to this situation?” or “How can I show people Christ as I interact with them today?” Think of the joy of looking back on a life well spent and great relationships developed.
Why don’t you try starting each day this week asking yourself, “How do I want to remember this day?” And then go about living the day to meet those expectations. It may change how you are experiencing life completely.
