Regrets

Have you ever had one of those moments when you stopped and said, “I wish I didn’t do that,” or “ I wish I didn’t say that”?  Maybe you’re saying, “Ha!  Maybe just once!”

We all have those times in our lives. The sad truth is we will all struggle with those moments; it is part of being human. REGRETS. Events, conversations, and interactions with others that it would have been nice to avoid. Here is what God is teaching me about dealing with my regrets.

1. The depth of my relationship with God determines the amount of regrets I struggle with. If my relationship is shallow then I will end up with far more regrets, because I am relaying on myself to make proper judgement calls. If my relationship with Him is deep and rich, then I will have far fewer regrets because I am allowing Him to be my guide. Psalms 19:14 comes to mind, “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer”.

2. God wants to redeem my regrets. God often wants me to go back and apologize or make right what I messed up, and in doing that He gets the chance to show His greatness by taking something broken and restoring it.
