Peace
“Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
This is one of my favorite verses and has been helpful to me over the past few months. It has been a great reminder of who is in control because I know that it is not me.
Do you struggle with worry? Are you concerned about things that you know you have no ability to change? These verses give us the greatest solution to our disquieted heart. Now, on the face, it doesn’t seem like a good solution; there are no steps to take, not a program to buy and implement. It really seems to simple. Did you notice the only action you are to take? PRAY. TALK TO GOD. That’s it. That’s all, and having that attitude is our biggest problem. We want to do more; we think it should be harder. If there were more steps and levels, then we would think it would work. But just pray? Just talk to God? YES. You see, it is God who is in control, not you, not me. Prayer not only allows us the ability to let God know what we are thinking, it also joins our spirits with the Holy Spirit so He can give us direction and peace. Did you notice the outcome, “and the peace of God….will guard your hearts”? When I drop my worries and concerns on Christ He infuses my heart with His presence which brings peace.
So today, just pray and see what happens. Your worry isn’t getting you far; you have nothing to lose. Just PRAY.
