My Soul and Others

“I care for my soul because if it becomes unhealthy, it will infect others.” John Ortberg

The other part of caring for my soul that I have been thinking through is its effect on those who are close to me and those who I influence. If my soul is in disarray, if my soul is not centered on Christ then I will be focused on me and my internal need for fulfillment. Self focus always leads to broken relationships, unmet expectations and uneasy people around me. My unsettled soul has an effect on those around me. Often leaders will blame the team for falling short or not working well together, when the real problem is the leader’s internal issues. The uncertainty of your soul is always displayed by your actions. As a leader, if I desire to have a productive team and a positive influence on those near me, then I better be sure my soul is well looked after. So let me pose a few questions.

How has your soul been effecting those closest to you?

Have you been blaming others for something that is your problem?

How well are you maintaining a healthy soul?
