Miraculous

“(The Father) has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.” Colossians 1:13

We have so much to be thankful for as followers of Jesus Christ! And yet, it is extremely easy to take for granted the many things that He has done for us. We become comfortable, settled, content–and as a result–forgetful. So, it is good for us to often re-examine this great salvation we have and refresh our memories. The verse above is one that God uses in my own life to challenge me in this regard. There is an incredible picture here–as a sinner, I am chained in the dungeon of sinfulness and hopelessness. I am under the authority (domain) of Satan. When I trusted Christ as my Savior, He rescued (delivered) me from that horrible place of bondage. I could certainly never have done it myself! Christ alone is the One who has the “keys to death and hell” (Revelation 1:18). To complete the process of redemption, He brings me into the His kingdom. I am not left to fend for myself, nor am I required to find a family to join, a kingdom to serve, or a king to whom I can pledge my allegiance. Now belonging to Christ, I have all of those things in Him. Friend–this is not a magical process. It is not even a mystical process. It is a miraculous process! The miracle of the grace and mercy of God means I can be called His child.

May we not easily forget this great salvation.
