Margin

Have you ever spent much time thinking about the margin in the book your reading or on the paper that you write on? Probably not. Well, the margin in a book is the space that is left on the side of the page to make it so the content is easier to read and to make room for notes. A cluttered book that has little or no room left is distracting and becomes difficult to focus on and read. It doesn’t mean that what the book contains is not of value or couldn’t in some way be useful; it just means that we will give up trying to figure it out.

Spend a few minutes thinking about your life as if it were a book. A book that you are writing and others are reading. The others are your family and friends, the people you work with and those who live close to you and are watching. How is the content ordered? Does it make sense? Is it cluttered? Messy? Disjointed? Who or what is the main theme? Is it full of false starts? Is there margin? Is there a place for you and those reading to make notes ?

Over the next few weeks I am going to discuss margin in our lives. I am not trying to draw conclusions for you or even tell you what your margin should look like. I just want you to start thinking and evaluating your life. Then figure out if you have margin, and if not how you can make some space to take some pressure off.

Hope you find the next few weeks helpful.
