Margin – Why?

It’s my life. Why does it matter if I have margin?

Well, first of all, if you are a Christ-follower, it is not your life. “You have been bought with a price and you are not your own.” (1 Cor 6:19-20) Secondly, if you want to live a life that has meaning and purpose, margin matters.
Let me explain it this way. Most of us get up every day and do the same basic things. You probably have a routine of some sort; even those who have no routine have a routine. If we are not careful and thoughtful we will fill our days with all kinds of activities and events that may or may not matter. If at some point we don’t stop and think about what is filling our days we will have no idea if we are heading in the direction that God would have us go. We may be incredibly busy but not very fulfilled, kind of like a mouse on a wire exercise wheel going round and round but never really getting anywhere. Margin is the space in your life where you get to stop and ask the “why?” and write notes about what you find. It is also the space where you have room for the unexpected, those life issues you didn’t plan for. They happen to us all.

Why margin? We all need space for life.
