Margin – Me

How does setting margin in my life really effect me as an individual?

Do you feel hurried? Unsettled? Unsure of direction and mission? Not hearing from God? If that is a description of you, then margin will have a huge effect. You see, we are often unsettled in life because we are unsettled with God. Developing and growing our relationship with God takes time and space. That is where margin comes in. We need time to be with God to be quiet and listen, to be in His presence, to wait on Him to reveal Himself to us. Margin gives you the time. If your time with God is always in a hurry, then your relationships with others will often be in a hurry. God is not waiting for your sacrifice, He is waiting for your presence. I believe that most of us have convinced ourselves that if we do enough for God He will overlook the fact that we are not present with Him. He really doesn’t need us to do anything for Him; He desires a relationship with us.

Lack of margin in my life is often first evident in my relationship with God. When my relationship with God gets out of whack it doesn’t take long for all of my other relationships to be affected as well.

Do you need margin in your personal life? You sure do; that is how everything else gets the foundation it needs to become healthy.
