Margin and Your Work

Don’t roll your eyes at me or refuse to read this little blog because of what I am about to say. Just read it and do a little internal work.
We all have to work. We need to pay the bills; we all like to eat. Our kids keep growing and need clothing, there is house maintenance and taxes (sorry for the reminder). So there never seems to be enough. But how much is enough? How much do I really need? When does it just become a want? Or just greed?
Once again margin becomes our friend. Leaving room in our life, not spending all we make. Limiting, or better yet, removing debt. Making it so I don’t need to take all the over-time that comes my way. Maybe it means finding a job that is not robbing my soul of time with God and what is important to Him. Margin once again gives me space to think through the things that matter most, to not be driven to the point of exhaustion.
So the question becomes, what does margin look like in your work? Have you thought that through? Have you asked someone close to you to help you set those limits? Do you know when is enough?
Remember, margins do not restrict you; they grant you freedom, space and renewal.
