Made Right

“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.” Romans 5:1 NLT

Are you looking for stability? Has this past year left you wondering if there is any chance of people getting along? Have you been watching our country and the world becoming more divided? Maybe you are realizing that harmony is an illusion that keeps just out of reach of humanity. What if I told you that you can have peace in your soul? What if there is a way for your inner person to be at rest? Impossible to believe? Seem far-fetched? There is a way! No, really, there is a way to be at peace.
The verse you just read from Romans tells us that when we enter into a relationship with Christ through faith in his payment for our sin on the cross, we are made right with God, and he provides us with peace. Jesus says it like this in the gospel of John: “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” The peace that comes from God lifts us above all of the “stuff” the world tries to distract us with. It is a security we have in spite of our circumstances. It comes by knowing God is in control and trusting him to do what is right. It comes when I rest in him.
How about you? Have you come to the place as a Christ-follower where you are resting completely in the finished work of Christ? Or, are you working hard to provide peace on your own? Have you learned to rest in Christ? Or are you working hard to provide your own rest?
Turn to Christ and experience real peace and rest.
