Legacy

The blog today is only for those of you who care about your children, grandchildren or the next generation. If that is not you, you can skip this little thought for the day. I know what you are thinking: the next generation is in trouble, they don’t care about truth! They are lacking in work ethic, they don’t have any motivation beyond themselves. If they are going to be good leaders, a lot is going to have to change. Although some of those statements are true, that is not what I had in mind. The thought for this morning comes once again from Solomon; here it is, “A righteous person acts with integrity; his children who come after him will be happy” Proverbs 20:7 CSB. This probably is not what you thought I was going to have us think about. You see, the problem with our children and grandchildren isn’t so much them as it is us! Most of what is taught to young people is not taught through what we say, it is taught by what we do and how we react. You and I are being watched each and every day. How we are living out our lives is teaching the next generation what is important and what doesn’t matter. If you are saying with your words that your faith matters, but your faith takes second and third place to everything else, or if you say that being honest and above board is important, and yet you are willing to cheat on your taxes or cut corners in your work, then your actions will speak louder than your words. Did you notice what Solomon said, that your integrity will make your children happy? Folks, the best thing we can do for the next generation is be a Godly example for them to follow. Know the truth and live it out each day to the best of your ability.
Is your level of integrity bringing happiness to your children?
