Leading On Purpose

How often do you think through why you are leading in the direction you are?
Maybe your answer to that question is, “All the time,” or “Once in a while,” or “Never; someone asked me to do this, so here I am.”
Well, I want you to take a few moments at the start of this new year and ask your self, “WHY?”  What a difference it makes in our life to know the “why”. Knowing why I am involved in a project or a ministry brings stability and longevity. If I can point to a purpose, then when the work gets hard (and it will), when people disagree (and they will) I have a reason to keep going. I have the ability to lay aside all the distractions and stay focused on the mission. Having purpose brings deep conviction and meaning to who I am, and makes me realize that what I am involved in is far greater than me.
Paul said it so well in Philippians 3:13, “This one thing I do….” He knew his purpose and was able to stay the course because of that knowledge.
What’s your purpose as a leader? Do you have a “This one thing I do”?

Happy New Year
