It’s a Step
“Do not turn aside to the right or the left from all the things I am commanding you today, and do not follow other gods to worship them.” Deuteronomy 28:14 CSB
Have you ever noticed how short the distance is between right and wrong? It is often just a thought or a step to the right or left. You know what I mean, right? A situation is happening and you have the opportunity to be Christ-like and forgiving or vindictive and selfish. Just a step in either direction. What I have noticed in my life is when I am listening to God each day and allowing the Holy Spirit to have control it is much easier to not stray left or right. I always struggle when I choose not to be in the Word, not to be quiet before God, not to be honest with what is going on in my heart. I begin to think that I have everything under control and I can do it on my own. I try to be God, I step to the left or right of God and try to go past Him. Do you ever find yourself doing that? I have found that the best way to stay in the center, to keep walking with God, is for me to start the day with God, either in His word or in conversation with Him or both. It is rather easy to do, and the result is profound. How about giving it a try? You will be glad you did.
