It Affects Everyone

Last week in my blog I talked about the book of Esther and the fact that Mordecai was unwilling to compromise on who he would bow to and worship. This week I want to think for a moment about how that choice has an effect on the people around us. Whether we like to admit it or not we are constantly being watched. The choices that we make, the words we choose to use, and even the places we go. Everything is being watched by someone; not only do they watch, but they also make decisions for their life based on what we do. In the story of Esther, Mordecai’s uncompromising spirit had an impact on his niece Esther. She becomes queen and makes a stand for right that could have cost her life. Her choice and stand saved thousands of her people’s lives. All because someone close to her wouldn’t compromise on truth. Watching the example of her uncle over the years while he raised her embedded godly truths deep in her heart.
How about you? You are also being watched every day. There are people in your life (some close to you, some on the fringes) who are watching what you do, how you act, and where you go to find answers. What are they seeing? Someone who lives the truth without compromising, or someone who is willing to do whatever is the easiest and most beneficial for them, with no thought of truth and integrity? Make your choices wisely; remember, you are being watched, and you have an effect on others.
