ISH-ing the Unseen (“In Sorta Halfway”)

Over the next few weeks I will be speaking on Sunday mornings about ISH-ing (“In Sorta Halfway”) different parts of our lives. I would like to continue the thoughts in my blog as well to help us maybe dive in a little deeper.
Yesterday I spoke about ISH-ing the unseen in our spiritual life. This is an extremely easy thing to do. The reason is no one really knows what is going on internally but me, and I can even lie to myself about it. I can tell myself that “When I get more time I’ll figure out my relationship with God” or “God understands I have to make a living so I don’t need to be all in right now.” “If I give a little or serve a little God will be happy.” Maybe you find talking to and relating with God dry and one sided, so why try?
Here is the thing: God is not into half way. He didn’t do halfway for us; he didn’t say, “I’ll pay for part of your sins and you have to make up the difference. I’ll reach halfway to you, but you have to figure out how to reach the rest of the way.” No, God looked at our sin and how far we were from Him and said, “I’ll pay the complete price. I’ll do all the work so our relationship can be made right.” So, when we accept that payment, we are offering ourselves completely back to Him. Paul says it this way, “You are not your own, for you were bought at a price.” He, Jesus, now becomes Lord of my life, and my sole purpose becomes about living in relationship with Him and being obedient to Him. He is now my master, and my desire becomes pleasing my master.
Take a moment today and ask yourself, “Have I been ISH-ing my relationship with God? Have I been only giving Him half?” Only you and God know.
