ISH-ing the Body

Did you come up with an answer to the question from last week? Remember? What is my attitude toward ISH-ing the externals? Whatever your answer is will effect how you read and how seriously you take this blog.
The first external I would like to think about is our bodies. I Corinthians 6:12-15; 19-20 remind us that as Christ followers we have been bought with a price and we are no longer our own; we belong to God. We are also reminded in that passage that when Christ died for us and we accepted His payment, he redeemed us. Our bodies became his dwelling place and temple. This means that everything I do to and with my body I am asking Christ through the Holy Spirit (who is in us) to join in. So, now think for a moment of everything that you do with your body, from your work, fun, hobbies, what you watch, listen to, what you eat, to how you care for your body. How many of those activities would God be happy to be part of?
I find it interesting how much I take my body for granted. I don’t spend a great deal of time thinking about what I am doing to it, or how I many be mistreating it. But God wants me to be thinking and living with this in my mind. Why? Thanks for asking. Because I have one body, one life, a short period of time on this earth to make a difference for the kingdom of God and to bring glory to Him and I have just this body to do it with. I guess I should treat it with respect; it doesn’t belong to me. It is on loan.
So have you been ISH-ing it with your body?
