Intentional Conversation

“Act wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you should answer each person.”   Colossians 4:5-6

How intentional are you about what you say and don’t say? How often do you think through your conversations enough so what you are saying has value and meat? I think that we as a people are losing our ability to have meaningful conversations. We talk about all kinds of things that have no impact on us becoming better people.

Spend the next few days listening to your conversations and see what they are all about, then ask yourself a few probing questions. How often are my conversations about God or spiritual things? How often do I find myself praising God in front of others? How often am I thankful for what God has done, and I share it with others? How many of my conversations encourage and build others up?
I think we are often reluctant to speak up and let people know just how great God is to us, for fear that they will think we are strange. Really, it is more strange to be quiet about something so incredible. Don’t you think people would like what you have in Christ?
Remember, time is short; make your conversations about things that matter.
