Good News!

Good News ! We all love to hear good news. It doesn’t matter what part of our life it shows up in, we like good news. Things like, we show up at work and are told, “We have seen how hard you are working, and we are giving you a raise.” Or something you have had to ask your child to do a hundred times, they did without you asking. (No, maybe that is a miracle.) Maybe the good news is a friend you haven’t seen in a long time is stopping by for a visit. Good news can take many forms and can look very different for everyone depending on where we are in life and what we are hoping for.
Today I want to talk to you about the best news ever, for all of humanity, for all of time. Are you ready? Here it is. “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ” 2 Corinthians 5:21 NLT. Each one of us has a huge problem that we are unable to solve on our own. Our problem is our sin. We are all born with a sin nature, and that sin makes it so we cannot have a relationship with the one who created us. The result of our sin is death and separation from God. There is no way for us to fix this problem on our own. So God sent his Son Jesus, the perfect sacrifice for sin, to pay the price for our sin. The Bible tells us that while we were enemies of God he loved us and was willing to restore us to himself. He did that through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. All you and I are required to do is admit we are sinners, repent of our sin, and ask Christ to forgive us. God promises that “if we confess our sin he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sin.” Have you done that yet? You can right now.
Now that is great news!
