Go Back To What You Know
“I will stand at my guard post and station myself on the lookout tower. I will watch to see what he will say to me…”
Habakkuk 2:1 CSB
If you were to read Habakkuk 1:12-14 you would see Habakkuk repeating to himself and to God some of the truths that he knows about God. He spends some time remembering what he knows about the character and person of God. Then he patiently waits to hear from God.
This is a great example for us. We should be constantly reminding ourselves of the truths we know about God. We should recall all the times that God has been faithful to us. We should go back to the last thing that God asked us to do. Then we should wait patiently for God to speak to us.
I don’t know about you, but my struggle comes in the waiting. I do ok remembering the truths about God; I am often quick to talk about how faithful He has been. But I have a hard time waiting for what he has next. I have been learning this lesson over the past years as I have watched God build Moss Brook Church. The more I wait and listen, the more evident it is that he is building His church.
How about you, have you been reminding yourself of the greatness of God? Have you been willing to “stand at your post and watch and see what God will say”?
