Faith

“Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1 CSB

According to the Oxford dictionary, faith is “the complete trust or confidence in someone or something.” Each and every day we all place our faith in many different places and people. Think about it with me for a few minutes. When I get up in the morning I have faith that the sun will rise, my clothes will fit, the coffee machine will work, the car will start, the roads will be open, my place of work will be there (or maybe you’re hoping it moved in the night), my spouse and family will love me…the list could go on and on, right? There are hundreds and more likely thousands of events and people we trust in each day. Most of the time our faith is well placed and we are pleased with the result of where we placed our faith, but every once and a while we are let down. You know what I mean. Someone doesn’t keep their word, or an event that was supposed to happen one way goes way off track. One way or another we end up disappointed and we start to lose faith. That loss of faith leads to us putting up walls and distancing ourselves from others, losing confidence.
What if I were to tell you that there is a place where you can put your faith and you will never be disappointed or let down? What if there is a person who never fails, never gets distracted by their own stuff? There is; let me introduce you to him. His name is Jesus. He is the one and only person who has promised to grant us forgiveness while knowing all of our failures and short comings. No matter how badly we have messed up, no matter how badly we fail, he will remain faithful to forgive us and offer restoration. If you are looking for somewhere to place your faith and hope, turn to Jesus; put your faith in him. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed.
