Expectations

What do you expect today to be? You may not think you have an expectation for today, but you do. We all do. Not only do you have an expectation for today, you have an expectation for the people you will meet, and you have an expectation for how the events you are involved in will turn out. How do I know this? I know because you are a “people” just like me. As people we have expectations about our expectations.
An expectation is something looked forward to, whether feared or hoped for.
Some of our expectations are realistic, but many of them are not. Sometimes we feel hurt or disappointment when they are not realized. Often we never verbalize them but think others should be aware of them. Many go through life discouraged and disappointed without realizing that they are expecting the impossible. So what are you expecting today?
May I encourage you to take a moment each day and first admit your expectations and then limit them to just one. Let this be your expectation, Philippians 1:20 “ My eager expectation and hope is that I will not be ashamed about anything, but that now as always, with all courage, Christ will be highly honored in my life or by death.” CSB
