Do Your Part
“Let’s start rebuilding,” and their hands were strengthened to do this good work.
Nehemiah 2:18b
There is something exciting about working with a group of people toward a common goal. I don’t know if you have ever been part of a team that required every part of the team to stay engaged and focused in order to finish the project in a timely manner. I have. It is so thrilling to see what can be accomplished by a few dedicated people all pulling together. The verse you read at the beginning of this blog is from the book of Nehemiah; it is referring to the beginning of the rebuilding of the city walls in Jerusalem. This project, which seemed overwhelming (it was huge) was completed in just 52 days. WOW! If you were to read the first 6 chapters of the book you would quickly realize that the only way this incredible undertaking happened was by everyone doing their part. This is true in the church today. We have a great work before us, sharing the grace and love of Christ with our hope-starved community, and this task can only be completed effectively if we all do our part. When each one of us sharess our story of redemption and uses our unique gifts, the people around us will see Jesus and be introduced to their own relationship with Him. The early church did this well; we are told in the book of Acts that because all the believers were sharing their faith, all of the known world was introduced to Jesus. Wow.
Question: How well are we doing our part?
