Deciphering Truth

“He showed me this: The Lord was standing there by a vertical wall with a plumb line in his hand.” Amos 7:7 CSB

Have you ever struggled with truth? What is true? Is someone trying to sell me on some idea or program? Is everything I am being told factual? How can I find the facts? If you are like me you have been asking those questions a lot over the past months. There seems to be a large number of people with agendas and many conflicting ideas. Who should I trust? Boiling it all down and finding the truth can be, and is, difficult. Finding a solid foundation of truth is hard. It is so different when it comes to my relationship with God and my faith. I love the firm foundation of truth found in the Word of God and the freedom that comes from the consistency of God. It is so refreshing in uncertain times to be able to turn to someone who is trustworthy, always honest, full of integrity, just, loving, merciful and wants the best for all of humanity. The reliability is wonderful. But I think one of the biggest encouragements that the Bible has been to me over these past months is it has given me a straight line to follow. The verse we started with this morning tells us that in Amos’s vision God stood with a plumb line in hand, showing what was outside the bubble of true and right. God still does that for us each day through His Word. He directs and guides us along the right path. As we read the Word and allow the Holy Spirit to interact with our spirit, God illuminates us with the truth showing us the way we are to live.
Are you spending time in the one place where real truth can be found?
