Can I Help?
Today’s blog was written by our friend, Arnold Twitchell:
The other day while I was working on a project around the house, my grandson came up and said, “What are you doing Papa? Can I help?” To a dad or a granddad, those words are always a thrill. Sure, in lots of cases it probably would be easier (and quicker) to do the project on your own, but to have him want to come and help and do what you are doing thrills your heart. It’s a great opportunity to spend some time together as well as to teach and train. To see the willing heart is a wonderful thing also.
I think our Heavenly Father feels the same way. Jesus tells us in John 5:17, 19-20 that God is always working, and that he as God’s Son does only what he sees his Father doing. Christ goes on to say that the Father loves him and shows him all that He does. As Christ followers, we are also His children, and He wants to show us what He is doing. Henry Blackaby writes in his book “Experiencing God” about 7 realities in knowing Him. One of those realities he speaks of is to “watch to see where God is working and join Him”. So as you start your day, why not look to our Father and ask Him to show you where he is working today, and then ask “Can I help?” He wants to involve us in what He is doing!
