Attitude

Attitude – positive or negative? How would you describe yours? How would your spouse, children or those you live life with you describe your attitude? Maybe you should ask them. Maybe you are scared to ask them.

I know for me, my attitude has a huge effect on how I feel about God, my family, my job and even my outlook on the future. So the question that I have to ask myself is, “What have I allowed to set the standards for my attitude?” For some, the standard maybe the weather, and if you live in Maine, then you are living on a roller coaster. For others it is your spouse or your job or you are comparing yourself to someone else. The problem with allowing a person or an event to set the standard for your attitude is that neither are consistent. My attitude is in constant turmoil.

So what standard brings stability to my attitude? Jesus Christ! Let Jesus Christ be your standard, let how He sees you and what He says about you be what sets the direction of your attitude. If you are a Christ-follower He sees you as a new creation, his child, a joint heir, a member of the family, a friend who has been made perfect in Him. That ought to have a huge affect on your attitude no matter what anyone else thinks or no matter what situation you are facing.

What or who is controlling your attitude today ?
