All the Time

“Consequently, (Christ) is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25

I realize not everyone is blessed in this way, but I am so thankful to have two godly parents. They love me, my wife and my son. They have always been supportive and have prayed faithfully for me my entire life. In fact, I just spent some time with my father, and in the course of our conversation, he reassured me that he was praying for me every day! It’s difficult to express in words how much that meant to me.

In Hebrews, we learn that Jesus Christ is our high priest. In other words, He is the One who stands before God the Father and prays for us. He prays for us when we sin. He prays for us when we are hurting. He prays for us when we need wisdom. Jesus Christ does all of those things for us, just like the Old Testament priests did for the Israelites before Christ came. There is one notable difference, however. The OT priests were human, so before they prayed for the people, they had to pray for themselves (Hebrews 7:27). Also, because they were human, they eventually died and had to be replaced (Hebrews 7:23). The new priests had to get to know and connect with the people, like the former priest had. Jesus Christ, however, has never sinned (Hebrews 4:15) and will never die (Hebrews 7:24). Do you realize what this means? It means that Jesus Christ does not just pray for you occasionally, nor does He just pray for you daily. Our Savior Himself is praying for you all the time.
