Help

“In the same way the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.”
Romans 8:26 CSB

Have you ever been at a point in your life, maybe doing a job or trying to figure something out, and you knew you needed help? You knew that without help there was no way you would figure out what was next or how to complete the job. We have all needed help at one time or another; often we don’t want to admit our need for help, but that doesn’t change the fact that we need it. If you have asked for help then you know the feeling of relief and reassurance that comes when help shows up. I was laying a hardwood floor this last week, by myself. It wasn’t a huge floor, but it was going to take me all day. Partway through the day my wife called and asked if I would like some help. Usually I say no and fight through on my own, but this time I was smarter and said, “Yes, that would be nice.” She came, and what a relief–my day brightened, the job went much faster, and I got to spend time with my best friend. That is what the Holy Spirit does for us; He shows up in our weakness and lifts us up before the Father, praying for our needs, things we are not even aware of. He brightens our day and lightens the load.
You and I as Christ-followers have a Helper. The question is, are we willing to accept His help?
